Window by Window

This is the primary area of operation handling Ref & Test Source selection, running the Compare process and displaying the results either in chart or data format.

WAVEcomp is simplicity itself to operate yet embodies powerful tools for sonic quality and difference testing.

The Main window provides, with a few mouse clicks, the means to compare part of an mp3 against a wav or a whole batch of CD Tracks against their ripped wav counterparts.

Results are charted and/or displayed as data. They can also be printed and archived as data sets for future analysis or compares with other sources.

Selecting files as sources is achieved through the File Select window. An Explorer type interface enables selection and once a valid format audio file is found its details are displayed and it can be listened to direct from the window.

Multiple files can be selected as sources and batches can be set up as well as adding all files to one or both Ref & Test source lists.

CD Tracks as Ref sources are available from either the PCs CD-rom drive or an optional audio CD Player using the Track Select window. Tracks from either source are selected, details are displayed and can be optionally played. Multiple tracks can be selected as sources and batches can be set up as well as a quick Select All function.

WAVEcomp's MediaPlayer offers many features useful to the compare process and can also function in its own right as a quality multiformat auditioning tool. With its optional Audio Switcher, any source available to the system can be selected as one of three monitor channels. The listener can then flick between the three as required either directly or with a pre-settable time delay thus allowing a repeat to be made of a piece of audio from two different sources.

Additionally, in AB/X mode, the third channel is randomly set to either the A or B channels and the listener is presented with a set of tools to carry out a full and verifiable set of AB/X tests with accompanying data being generated.

WAVEcomp's help system includes the usual browser based help format but also offers window specific help pages which display alongside the active window thus allowing the help to be followed as operations are carried out. Additionally, a full tutorial with many audio sample files provides a fast learning curve into the area of Sonic Difference Testing. Skilled and non-skilled operators alike will quickly be able to make judgements regarding quality issues and with WAVEcomp's user definable Pass/Warn/Fail indications, in-house requirements and specifications can easily be adhered to.

Results, whether in on-screen, printed, file or archived data format can easily be interpreted. In archive data format, they can be cross-compared with other sets of archive data thus enabling widely spaced facilities to enjoy compatibility in Sonic Difference Testing and Analysis. All archive data results are not source specific so compares can be made between many different formats and versions of the same audio material ranging from low bitrate codec versions to high bitrate high sample frequency wav format versions.

When files are selected as Ref or Test sources, the specific files are found, optionally listened to and selected here.

If CD Tracks are used as Ref sources, they can be found, listened to and selected here.

This feature packed player application allows direct audio comparison between any sources available. AB/X testing is included as well as level trimming between sources.

Detailed help screens at the side of the relevant window allow the help to be read whilst carrying out the operation. A full tutorial and sample files are provided.
